The Elderberry School of Botanical Medicine
has been providing an Herbalist Training Program since 2007. This course is for anyone wishing to develop his or her skills as an herbalist in the Pacific Northwest bioregion. From Poplar Buds in the early spring to the roots of late fall, this 300+ hour course spans the harvest season and includes a wide variety of classes covering the foundations of herbal medicine. They also now offer a diverse lineup of classes including intermediate level herbal topics and a field trip to Eastern Oregon. The faculty includes Scott Kloos, Erico Schleicher, Kim Kelsey, Karin Rohland, and guest lecturers.
Matthew Wood's School of Traditional Western Herbalism offers a unique 3-year Herbal Practitioner Training Program based on a holistic approach to understanding and working with plant medicines to facilitate health and wholeness of the body, mind, and spirit. The program emphasizes herbal traditions passed down to us from American Indian and European heritages, and includes topics such as plant energetics, intuition, and traditional herbal wisdom, as well as plant pharmacology and modern biomedicine. The faculty includes Matthew Wood, Scott Kloos, and guest lecturers.
The Arctos School of Herbal and Botanical Studies' Herbalism and Ecosystems Apprenticeship Program consists of ten weekend classes. The approach of teachers Missy Rohs and Gradey Proctor brings together the fundamentals of herbalism, botany and ecology with meaningful interaction and practical experience. They strive to instill in their work a value system that practices stewardship to the land, relationship to the plants and good health to the community.
The Herb Shoppe hosts a Wednesday Night Free Lecture Series as well offering various workshops and classes.
Camilla Blossom of 3 Flowers Healing is a flower alchemist, educator, intuitive, and owner of 3 Flowers Healing in Hood River, OR. She felt a calling to begin co-creating the Columbia River Gorge Flower Essences at the Equinox of 2000. Since then she has been offering teachings, energy healings, and products that bring people in deep connection with the healing of the flowers. She is author of Listening to the Wildfowers: A Flower Whisperer's Guide to the Columbia River Gorge Flower Essences.
Dr. Deborah Frances R.N., N.D. lectures at herbal and naturopathic conferences across the country. She also teaches classes in plant spirit medicine, shamanic journeying, dream work, animal communication, herbal and homeopathic therapies, and naturopathic therapies for horses. www.dancingcrow.net
Jo Powell's Northwest School of Herbalism is grounded in traditional western folk and contemporary community herbalism then fortified with elements of international herbalism, they offer classes for those who wish to study botanical medicine in Northwest Oregon.
