Plant Teacher Circle: Toxic or Low-dose Meditation w/ Amanita Mushroom
We will be working for the third and final time with very small doses of Fly Agaric Amanita muscaria.
Here are a few snippets from our past experiences:
felt it in bones, grappling with aspect of myself, so deep, constitutional change, geologic, allowed to step outside of myself and see how I am...very, very deep
old woman reaching into my ribcage, digging around and pulling something out, showing it to me, "you see that? that was inside you." pulls more stuff out
so close I can't distinguish it from myself, a light going into dark places, transforming, black tendrils came at me, imagined putting droppers of tincture on it and they left
connected by confusing/toxic things, "how do you get out of that?", have to be a light in it, good for cancer, energy movement, it's a dense fire, scorching out stuck old toxic stuff, didn't like its movement in my body, detoxifier of deepest, sticky stuff
unpleasant, so heavy, spine shortened, painful, head solid clay...
nauseous, very intense, nervous as soon as I touched the bottle, pulse went really deep, image above volcano, flying really fast over the forest, a bunch of trolls looking me in the face, white wizards came and scared them off...

Wednesday Night Free Lecture Series: Juniper, Ephedra, and the Process of Initiation
These ancient desert plants call us away from our normal daily lives and invite us to reconnect with our ancestral roots. Their physical form and structure embody the energetic processes of transformation. When we invite them into our lives, they can help guide us on the path of awakening−assisting us in making transitions, helping us to transform obstacles that get in the way of finding and fulfilling our missions in life, and tying us into the spiritual matrix that sustains us on all levels.

Plant Teacher Circle: Amanita Mushroom Meditation
We will be working again with very small doses of Fly Agaric Amanita muscaria. There is much folklore surrounding this mushroom and some have speculated that it was the inspiration for the story of Santa Claus and his flying reindeer.

Wednesday Night Free Lecture Series: Reawakening the Beings of the Forest
We have temporarily forgotten our connection to the spiritual beings that are the true power behind the medicinal plants that we "use." When we work with the plants to renew and strengthen these relationships through song, prayer, and vision, an even deeper level of healing is available, and as we bring light and healing to ourselves, we cannot help but illuminate the beings of the forest. We'll explore this topic and see how it relates to achieving a greater sense of peace, strength, and grounding in our lives. 6:15-7:00PM FREE

Portland Plant Medicine Gathering: Psychological and Spiritual Plant Medicine
The forging of deeper relationships with plants is a two-way path. In getting to know a plant better, one gains a more thorough understanding of the Self and its connection to the spiritual forces of Nature. As physical manifestations of the spirit forces of the land, plants have the potential of being our most profound teachers. When we open ourselves to receive these teachings, we not only heal ourselves, but we make these healing forces more available to the Earth and all of her inhabitants.

The forging of deeper relationships with plants is a two-way path. In getting to know a plant better, one gains a more thorough understanding of the Self and its connection to the spiritual forces of Nature. Working with plants in this way can alleviate the sense of separateness that leads to many of our mental and emotional disturbances and allow our whole, multi-dimensional selves to emerge.

Plant Teacher Circle: Pacific Yew Meditation
"The Yew is considered to be the most potent tree for protection against evil, a means of connecting to your ancestors, a bringer of dreams and Otherworld journeys and a symbol of the old magic. In hot weather it gives off a resinous vapour, which shamans inhaled to gain visions. Yew wood was regarded as especially magical to the Celts, due to its connection with the dead and the ancestors, which were deeply respected." -from http://druidnetwork.org
Come see for yourself and meet the tree that has been one of our most powerful plant teachers for thousands of years!
Tue. May 26
Plant Teacher Circle: Corydalis Meditation
Rarely have I been so intrigued and impressed with the lessons and healings that a plant has offered. Over the course of the two previous meditations and time spent working in between, Corydalis has revealed herself both as a delicate being and a holder of great power. In so doing she has blurred the lines between these concepts and the distinctions between plant consciousness and human psyche as well. She has brought up some of our most vulnerable parts, shown us in waking life and dream the absurdity of our fears, and reminded us that our greatest strengths are derived from the very vulnerability of these most delicate of parts.

Wednesday Night Free Lecture Series: Devil's Club−Herb of Protection
Devil's Club, Oplopanax horridum, was worn as a protective amulet by Pacific Northwest shamans, but to truly learn, know, and implement a plant's power, it is not enough to merely adopt the customs of others. We must forge a personal relationship with the essence of each plant. Join me in getting to "know" this wonderful Plant Teacher and learn how it can help to protect your energetic boundaries and defend against the "devils" of the interior landscape. 6:15-7:00PM FREE

Healing with Plant Spirits
By embodying the essence of a plant's energy, we can tap into its intelligence and wisdom and explore healing and wholeness in a way that uniquely arises from a communion of consciousnesses. After establishing a relationship on this level, we are able to hold space for others to do the same.
In this class we will learn to work with Plant Spirits in a way that supports our own healing and that of others. We will discuss the body's innate healing wisdom and learn ways to establish relationships with Plant Teachers in a way that engenders a deep and true healing that reconnects the soul with the greater spirit. 7:00-9:00PM $20
Location: SE Portland

Tue. March 31
Plant Teacher Circle: Corydalis Meditation
Tonight being the last Tuesday of the month, we will be working with one of our native low-dose, toxic, and/or little-or-no-history-of-use plants: Corydalis Corydalis scouleri. Corydalis is closely related to Bleeding Heart Dicentra formosa. Both are in the Papaveraceae or Poppy family and contain many alkaloids in what Michael Moore calls "a complex, almost tortuous pharmacology." I have found no history of use for this particular species, but in Medicinal Plants of the Mtn. West, Michael Moore, gives a monograph of Golden Smoke C. aurea. Another species, C. yanhusuo, is used in Chinese medicine to invigorate the blood and alleviate pain. It has been a while since I have worked with this plant. I am excited to see what happens... 7:00-9:00PM $10

Thursdays 2/12, 2/19, 2/26: Healing with Plant Spirits Series
Working with plants on the level of essence is a highly personal experience. The "healer" can be a conduit for the healing energy of the universe and a holder of awareness for those seeking healing, but really he/she does nothing more than create and hold a safe, grounded space for others to do their own healing work. In this class we will learn to work with Plant Spirits in a way that supports the healing work of others. We will discuss the body's innate healing wisdom and learn ways to establish relationships with Plant Teachers in a way that engenders a deep and true healing that reconnects the soul with the greater spirit.
In this three class series, we will spend time practicing on each other and do exercises to maintain our energetic boundaries. 7:00-9:00PM $75
Location: SE Portland

Tue. February 24
Plant Teacher Circle: Pulsatilla Meditation
This New Moon 24th being the last Tuesday of the month, we will be working with one of our native, low-dose plants: W. Pasque Flower Anemone occidentalis (aka Pulsatilla). It has a long tradition of use for nervous conditions marked by "a generally agitated state of mind complete with sense of doom, distress, and physical irritability" (Michael Moore. Medicinal Plants of the Pacific West) and is a major homeopathic remedy. Hope to see you there...
